During Easter 2016 I enjoyed a visit to Sri Lanka. We headed for the south coast of Sri Lanka to a place called Mirrisa and stayed at Mirissa Hills.
Mirrisa is known for it’s beaches and whale watching. Mirissa Hills was a delight, quiet, cool, full of Sri Lankan art, and ambience.
We met the owner who is based in New York and the architect Anjalendran who studied under the famous Bawa.
The property is a cinnamon plantation. Cinnamon piqued my interest as I handle it on a daily basis being one of the most common ingredients in the herbal mixtures that I prescribe for patients.
It is a truly invaluable herb in Chinese Medicine. There are so many wonderful properties of cinnamon. I use it in formulas for colds , night sweats ,palpitations and it has many more functions including properties in stabilising blood sugar.

I am looking forward to returning to Sri Lanka and exploring other parts. The going is slow as I normally take short trips and to travel by the local roads takes time.
