Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a drug-free way for pain control and relief. It releases natural pain killers (endorphins and encephalins) and blocks out pain messages to the brain.
The TENS machine achieves this by sending small, safe pulses of electrical current via the leads to the pads on your skin, leading to a slight tingling or buzzing sensation in the area.
As TENS is non-invasive and does not cause drowsiness, it is safe for both mother and baby with no lasting side effects. TENS is portable, easy to use and can be used for as long as it is needed, giving patients the freedom to control the length, intensity and location of use without restricting movement.
It is excellent at relieving pain and painful uterine contractions after birth.
We offer to rent out TENS machines for $105 a month including $50 refundable deposit. For postage, it will be $20 on top of the rental cost, but no charge if it is picked up in the clinic.
As the TENS machine is battery powered, please don’t use it in water or shower. It is advised not to be used with an electrical cardiac pacemaker and on broken skin or healing wounds.
