Hello, I’m Dr. Naoki, Doctor of Chinese Medicine here at Eastern Therapies. I’m excited to share my insights on the conditions I focus on and to offer a unique perspective on how our bodies function and sometimes become unwell.
Drawing on years of study and clinical experience, I aim to provide a holistic understanding of health and healing. To achieve this, I’d like to share my understanding of the body and its functions from different perspectives. By exploring these different viewpoints, I hope to offer a deeper insight into how we maintain health and address imbalances, and how I approach my treatment.
In an upcoming article, I’ll delve into how I use crystals and acupuncture to treat the body holistically. This piece will provide an in-depth look at how these modalities work together to promote overall well-being and restore balance.
Body Beyond What We Can See and Feel
What are they?
When we think of the human body, the first thing that comes to mind is the physical form—the tangible, visible structure of bones, muscles, and skin. However, our body is not limited to this physical form alone. Beyond what we can see and feel lies a complex and intricate system of energetic layers that interact with our physical body in profound ways.
The Energetic Body
The concept of the energetic body has been acknowledged in various cultures and spiritual traditions for centuries. These layers of energy extend beyond the physical body and are often referred to by many names, such as the aura, etheric body, astral body, and emotional body. While the terminology may vary, the underlying idea remains consistent: there are multiple layers of energy surrounding and interpenetrating our physical form.
The Layers and Their Functions
Many practitioners and theorists suggest that there are multiple layers to the energetic body, each serving a different function. For instance, the etheric body is often associated with the physical and vital processes, acting as a blueprint for the physical form. The emotional body is linked to our feelings and emotions, while the astral body is connected to our dreams and spiritual experiences. Though the specific names and functions of these layers can differ across traditions and practitioners, the key takeaway is that our energetic body plays a crucial role in our overall well-being.
The Impact of Energetic Imbalance
An important aspect of the energetic body is how imbalances within it can manifest in our physical body. Just as emotional stress can lead to physical symptoms like headaches or stomach aches, disruptions in our energetic body can also affect our physical health. These imbalances can arise from various sources such as emotional trauma, negative thought patterns, or environmental factors.
